Srinagar, 08 Jul (KNS) : The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah Wednesday expressed profound grief and concern over the devastation caused by the flash floods that struck Thathri town in Doda district following incessant heavy rainfall.

In a statement issued here, Dr. Farooq said that the repeated incidents of flash floods in the twin districts of Doda and Kishtwar over the past two days are deeply alarming and have caused immense distress to the affected families. While expressing relief that no loss of human life has been reported, he conveyed his heartfelt sympathies to all those whose homes, shops, vehicles, and livelihoods have suffered damage.

He urged the administration to expedite the rescue, relief, and restoration measures, ensure prompt assessment of losses, and provide adequate compensation and rehabilitation to the affected families without delay.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHe also called for the restoration of essential services and road connectivity at the earliest to ease the hardships faced by the local population.

Dr. Farooq appealed to the people residing in vulnerable areas to remain vigilant and follow the advisories issued by the authorities in view of the prevailing weather conditions. He also emphasised the need for long-term measures to strengthen disaster preparedness and mitigate the impact of such recurring natural calamities in the hilly regions of Jammu and Kashmir.

He prayed for the safety and well-being of all the affected residents and expressed solidarity with them during this difficult time.(KNS
