District judge Budgam directed deputy commissioner and CAPD to distribute free LPG


Srinagar, April 20 (KNS): Principal District Judge Budgam Raja Shujat Ali, In a petition moved by inhabitants of Tehsil chararisharief through amicus-Curie Javed M. Hubi (Advocate) wherein direction was sought for providing free gas to the poor and needy people of residents of tehsil charari-sharief (Rural and BPL families) under The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Youjana (PMUY) & Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana (PMGKY).
According to Kashmir News Service Amicus curie in petition has submitted That the Government of India under leadership of Prime Minister Narindra Modi launched a scheme on May 1, 2016 in Ballia (Uttar Pradesh) to provide free Cooking gas connections to 50 million poor households, the scheme was enhanced to 80 million poor householders during covid-19 outbreak.That on March 26, 2020 Covid-19 Welfare package was announced by which the poor house holders who are using small cylinders of 5 KG will get eight free cylinders and those who are using big cylinders ( 14.2 KG) will get three free cylinders in three months (April, May and June 2020). The area of Tehsil Charari-sharief comprises of 16 villages and most of the population is below poverty line, and they have been held eligible under the aforesaid schemes. That the petitioner (Amicus Curie) got information from most of the villages that they have not been provided free gas cylinders since nationwide lockdown. That the people of area are not in a position to approach the concerned authorities during present situation as already administration has notified/declared some areas as red zones in the Tehsil and also restrictions under section 144 are in force, the statement issued to KNS said.
The court of Principal District Judge (Chairman DLSA) after entertaining the petition of Amicus Curie issued notice to the to the respondents through whatsApp and in the meantime deputy commissioner Budgam and Director CAPD were directed to seek the report from distributors of LPG operating in the area in respect of free distribution of as per THE PRADHAN MANTRI UJJWALA YOUJANA (PMUY) & PRADHAN MANTRI GARIB KALYAN YOJANA (PMGKY) Schemes. The system officer e-courts Budgam has also been directed to forward the copy of order to respondents 1 and 2, through virtual mode. (KNS)
