Delay in renewal of hospital registration not because of us but administration: City Hospital clarifies

Srinagar, August 23 (KNS): Management of City Hospital Srinagar Sunday clarified that renewal of hospital registration has been delayed due to laws that had been changed after State of J&K has turned into Union Territory last year.
Talking to KNS, Management City Hospital said there is no deliberate intention of violating healthcare norms. “We are law abiding citizens and never ever had violated Government rules. There is no deliberate intention of breaching healthcare norms”, he said.
“Our registration expired on March 2020. Prior to that date we approached Directorate of Health Services Kashmir (DHSK) for its renewal but they told us to wait for quite some time as State of J&K was afresh turned into UT and laws remained changed”, Management CH told.
He said, “We had been told to continue healthcare operations till further orders”.
He added that Covid-19 pandemic also led delay in the process as entire UT administration was engaged in containment of virus.
“Few days ago we met CMO Srinagar in this regard who said that Department has started receiving forms and soon renewal process will get started.
Earlier DHSK in its reply to RTI filed by a social activist namely Siraj-ud-din, that 20 private hospitals/nursing homes across Kashmir are functioning without valid registration. It added that among the figure, 10 private hospitals were alone functioning in Srinagar. (KNS)
