Srinagar, Jul 12 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir administration has denied permission to all individuals, political parties and groups planning to march to Khawaja Bazaar in the old city's Nowhatta area on July 13, citing law and order concerns, sources said on Sunday.
The decision bars all proposed marches to the site associated with the July 13, 1931, killings, the sources said.
They said the ruling Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) will instead hold a tribute event at its Nawa-e-Subha headquarters near the Old Zero Bridge in Srinagar.

Meanwhile, Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti and PDP leader Iltija Mufti have been placed under house arrest by the administration, the sources said.
July 13 is observed by several political parties in Jammu and Kashmir as the anniversary of the 1931 killings, when around 22 civilians were killed in firing by the forces of the then Dogra monarchy outside the Central Jail in Srinagar during an uprising.(KNS).
