Srinagar, Jul 15 (KNS): Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Muhammad Yasin Malik was once again arrested by police when he was returning home from south Kashmir where he had gone to expresses condolences to bereaved families, a spokesman said on Sunday.
According to the statement issued to KNS, the spokesman said that Malik along with the amalgam vice-chairman Mushtaq Ajmal, Zonal Organizer Bashir Ahmad Kashmiri and others including Imtiyaz Ahmad and Arshad Ahmad were returning to Srinagar when police at Sangam stopped and detained them.
“They are now lodged at police station Sangam Islamabad,” he added.
Earlier, Malik was released yesterday after 10 days of incarceration. JKLF strongly condemned Malik’s arrest.
Prior to his arrest, Malik along with a delegation traveled to South Kashmir and visited many bereaved families of those recently martyred by Indian forces.
Malik visited Hawoora Raidwani and met with the bereaved families of slain girl Andaleeb Jan, Shakir Ahmad Khanday and Irshad Ahmad Lone who were killed on Jul 07 2018.
Malik as per the statement met with the shattered families and expressed solidarity with them. “Malik then moved to Gasipora Wanpoh and met with the bereaved family of slain Yawar Ahmad. After meeting this bereaved family, he along with the delegation visited Brakpora Islamabad (Anantnag) and met with the family of slain Sheeraz Ahmad who became a target of trigger happy Indian occupational forces on Eid day (June 16th 2018),” the spokesman said.
Malik expressed sympathy with the bereaved family.
According to the statement, Malik then traveled to Naowshehra Srigufwara Bijbehara and met with the bereaved family of innocent slain Muhammad Yousuf Rather who was showered with bullets along with his wife who is still under treatment for her wounds.
“He also met with the victims of the locality whose residential houses were burnt down or bombed by Indian aggression and who have been left homeless by so-called biggest democracy,” the spokesman said.
Earlier, Malik visited Malaknagh Islamabad where he expressed condolences to Sofi family on the demise of their father Ghulam Muhammad Sofi.
The deceased was the father of senior Hurriyat Leader Mukhtar Ahmad Sofi.
Malik met with the members of his bereaved family and prayed for his heavenly abode. He also prayed for the sabr-I-Jamil to his bereaved family.
After meeting the bereaved families and victims of ‘Indian aggression’ at various places, Malik and others on their return were stopped by police at Sangam.
“Police cordoned their vehicle and arrested JKLF chairman along with Mushtaq Ajmal, Bashir Ahmad Kashmiri, Imtiyaz Ahmad,” the spokesman said, adding that all arrested have been lodged at police station Sangam now.
The JKLF spokesman while condemning these arrests has said that these arrests, restrictions and other oppressive measures are actually a glaring example of anti-democratic approach of Indian rulers. (KNS)
