Srinagar, Dec 14 (KNS): Unknown persons on Thursday-Friday night damaged windowpanes and other belongings of local Masjid Shareef at Marazigund Watergam.
According to KNS correspondent, the ransacking of windowpanes and other belongings during night hours by unknown persons triggered a protest in the area.
The protesters also blocked the road, thus resulted in traffic jam in the area.
Later, police intervened into the matter following which the protesters opened allowed the traffic to ply.
Locals while talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS) said that at around 01:00 am, “we heard some ransacking sounds. The Solar light of Jamia Masjid was also damaged by these persons.”
They said that in the morning hours, they came to know that the local Masjid Shareef has been damaged.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Sopore, Javaid Iqbal confirmed to KNS that a case has been registered in this regard at Police Station Dangiwacha, saying that further investigation into the matter is going on. (KNS)
