Mir censures PDP-BJP govt for “no youth” policies

Srinagar, Oct 23 (KNS): Democratic Party Nationalist (DPN) chief Ghulam Hassan Mir Friday criticised the PDP-BJP coalition for what he termed the failure of the alliance to frame pro-youth policies.
Mir said the present volatile situation in which youth take protests day in and out in the Valley is the result of utter failure of the government.
“The alliance after taking over the reins of the state had promised to the youth that it will frame policies for their employment and other opportunities so that they could live a positive life. But after seven months youth are angry with the government as it has done nothing for the youth and people at large,” Mir told KNS.
He said that the government has failed to address the problems which the youth is facing.
The former legislator from Tangmarg said that the government has mired itself in controversies and has given a “free hand” to goons and hooligans in Jammu which attack Kashmiris.
He said that the alliance partners had claimed that it would bridge the divide between Jammu and Kashmir regions.
“PDP had claimed it has the mandate of Kashmir region, while BJP had claimed that it has the mandate of Jammu region. Both the partners had claimed that they will unite the two regions on political, economic, and social levels. However, the situation prevailing as today clearly falsifies their claims,” he said.
He said the ongoing turmoil is because of the failure of the government on all fronts, be it economic, political and development.
“Had this government taken off development programmes in the state we would not see communal forces cropping up their heads in Jammu region. The present volatile situation is the result of the failure of the government,” he said. (KNS)
