Hamas accepts Gaza ceasefire proposal, says ball now in Israel’s court

Srinagar, May 06 (KNS): Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh on Monday informed mediators Qatar and Egypt that his Palestinian militant group had accepted the proposal for a ceasefire in Gaza after nearly seven months of war.

Reports said that Ismail Haniyeh, head of the political bureau of Hamas movement, conducted a telephone call with the prime minister of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, and with the Egyptian intelligence minister, Abbas Kamel.

They said that the leader informed them of Hamas's approval of their proposal regarding a ceasefire agreement in Gaza.

They added the group also said the ball is now in Israel’s court as the militant group has accepted the proposal. (KNS)
