Srinagar, Mar 25 (KNS): A petition on misuse of pellet guns filed by Kashmir High Court Bar Association (KHBA) is coming for hearing in the Supreme Court on coming Monday and a team of senior of advocate of Kashmir High Court Bar Association (KHBA) will likely make the argument on the misuse of pellet guns in the light of civilian killings during last year’s unrest in Kashmir. Interestingly the court has asked the central government to submit the report of a team of experts about pellet guns in December last year.
Top sources revealed to KNS that a team of senior advocates of Kashmir High Court Bar Association (KHBA) led by legal luminary Zaffar Ahmed Shah has arrived New Delhi to argue on the petition filed on the misuse of pellet guns in Kashmir in the Supreme Court.
The division bench of the supreme court comprising the then Chief Justice, Justic T S Thakur and Justice D Y Chanderchood court had in December last year had admitted the petition for hearing and directed the central government to submit the report of the team of experts constituted on the use of pellet guns before the court.
As reported already the central government had constituted a team on July 6, 2016 to recommend suitable replacement for the pellet guns and Kashmir High Court Bar Association (KHBA) had sought stay on the central government’s decision till the submission of the expert committee report before the court.
Now the case no 9 on use of pellet guns is list for hearing on coming Monday, March 27. A team of legal experts of Kashmir High Court Bar Association (KHBA) headed by noted legal expert Advocate Zaffar Ahmed Shah has already reached New Delhi to contest the case on Monday and State government’s advocate General Jahangir Iqbal Ganaie is expected to represent the State during the hearing.
