Anantnag, July 23 (KNS):Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu today stressed on active participation for achieving the goal of good governance and stressed upon the responsive and proactive administration so that the fruits of development reach the last man.
The Lieutenant Governor stated this during his visit to district Anantnag were he interacted with several delegations and Public Representatives as a part of the governments initiative to get the first hand appraisal of the public issues. He also inaugurated 12 developmental projects worth Rs.113 crore and laid foundation stones of various projects.

He was accompanied by Advisor to Governor Baseer Ahmad Khan, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Pandurang K.Pole; IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar; Deputy Commissioner Anantnag K.K.Sidha.

Around 18 delegations including representatives of ULBs, PRIs & several political parties; Joint Traders Association Anantnag, Civil Society Association Doru, Fruit Growers Association, Anantnag, Deputation of Hoteliers & Restaurant Owners Pahalgam, Civil Society/ Traders Association Kokernag, Deputation of 06 from Mattan / Chittisinghpora, Deputation of Kashmiri Pandiths, Deputation of un-employed Physical Education Trainees, Deputation of Gujjar Mahasabha & Tribal Community, NGO Helpline Bijbehara & South Kashmir Handicapped Association Anantnag.

The members of delegations projected issues and demands pertaining to empowerment of ULBs, PRIs, Special Package for Un-employed Youth, Beautification of Anantnag town, Mini Secretariat and marriage hall for Anantnag town, strengthening of road network, establishment of fruit mandis and slaughter houses at sub divisional levels, introduction of market intervention scheme, and adaptation of contract farming, inclusion of Gujjar Bakerwalls in BPL category, crop insurance, augmentation of sport infrastructure and youth engagement.

Regarding the issues raised, the Lt. Governor assured the members of delegations that their genuine concerns would be taken up on priority for early resolution at directed the concerned officers to initiate the necessary measures.

He observed that strengthening of PRIs and ULBs is priority of the government and asked the locals to avail maximum benefit the various welfare schemes. He sought their active participation in developmental programmes launched by the government. He assured them that the issues like security and accommodation shall be reviewed and resolved accordingly. Lt. Governor also urged upon the public representatives to work in unison with the government in the fight against corona-virus.

For many issues projected by public, the Lt. Governor issued on spot directions to the concerned departments and reddressal of the same at the earliest. He directed for identifying land for marriage hall for Anantnag town and submission of DPR accordingly. He also directed for identifying a patch of land for mechanical parking in Bijbehara town. He also passed directions for strict adherence to SOPs in transportation of building and construction material.

The Lt. Governor directed the concerned officers to set timelines for completion of incomplete and languishing projects besides prioritising the local issues like macadamization of roads, provision of drinking water and electricity besides taking up of B2V works.

He advised the people to take all precautions like wearing masks, maintaining of social distancing and following the SOPs issued by the government from time to time. He enjoined upon the health officials to identified the spots having spike in COVID positive cases and evolve mechanism in the management of patients with co-morbidities besides specific sampling and testing.

Earlier the Lt. Governor e- inaugurated various developmental projects worth Rs 113 crores, including Sewerage Scheme Anantnag zone 1, Septage Management Scheme Anantnag under AMRUT, 1.0 MGD Rapid Sand Filter Unit at Bumzoo for WSS Anantnag town under JKIDFC, 40000 Gallons Capacity Slow Sand Filtration Plant at Chaklipora for WSS Chakilipora under JKIDFC, Water Supply Scheme Kralpora Brakpora completed under NRDWP, Water Supply Scheme Chontihal & Watkhush part of WSS Dardpora Chontihal Watkhush under JKIDFC, ANM Kokernag, Anantnag, Trauma Hospital Bijbehara, Construction of Overhead Pedestrian crossing at Bijbehara, 2X30 Mtr span steel girder foot bridge over Nallah Sadran at Vessu Sadoora Chopan Mohalla, Construction of 100 Bedded Girls Hostel, (Double Storeyed) at Mehind Nowshehra Bijbehara. He also laid foundation stone of 0.33 MGD Rapid Sand Filtration Plant at Andoo for WSS Andoo Pushroo, Construction of 1.50 lac Gallons capacity OHT at Brenthy for WSS Brenthy Batapora, Construction of 55000 Gallons capacity OHT at Monghal for WSS Baghi Nowgam, construction of Additional 3X30 Mtr span Double Lane PSC Girder Bridge over River Jhelum at Khanabal Anantnag, construction of Overhead Foot Bridge at Harnag, Anantnag.
