Lotus says ‘dry spell accompanied by intermittent rains would continue’

Srinagar, Jul 16 (KNS): As the scorching heat continued from past several days, the local Meteorological (MeT) department on Monday predicted dry spell till next month.
Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Director MeT Sonum Lotus said that there was no possibility of end in the scorching heat till next week. “As per the prediction, the temperature would remain constant while there is possibility of intermittent rainfall in the week as well,” he said.
He informed that there was no prediction of heavy rainfall during the next upcoming days.
Lotus said that like intermittent rainfall during the intervening night of Sunday-Monday, the Valley may receive intermittent rainfall till next week as well.
Earlier, the scorching heat continued in the Valley from past several days following the heavy rainfall that triggered flood like situation here.
The flood like situation was over after the water level in river Jhelum and other streams here receded.
The MeT director later denied any possibility of floods in Kashmir, saying that there was no prediction of heavy rainfall here that would led to floods in Kashmir. (KNS)
