Will Intensify strike if action not taken against SDM: DAK

Srinagar, Dec 06 (KNS): Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) in a communiqué said that a two hour pen down strike from 10:00 AM to 12:00 o'clock was held today by doctors, paramedics and supportive staff in all the District, Sub District, Primary and Community Health centres of the Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh and Chenab Valley against unruly behaviour of Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) , Syed Katari (SDM), Zainapora. The said officer exerted inhuman approach against a consultant surgeon in Sub District Hospital (SDH), Zainapora, Shopian few days back who was on duty that day and had just come out of an operation theatre after completing a day long surgery.
Dr Suhail Naik President DAK and Dr M Yousuf Tak Convener Jammu Kashmir Doctors Coordination Committee (JKDCC) has said that doctors, paramedics and supportive staff started with a black band protest on Monday and Tuesday keeping the patient care and public suffering in mind but when no action was taken against the concerned SDM we were forced for this pen down strike keeping it as the last option.”It seems administration is least bothered about the patient care and is using harsh attitude by turning deaf ear to our demands” he further said.
The strike was supported by JKDCC, Doctors Association Jammu (DAJ), Resident Doctors Association (RDA) Jammu, Society of Consultant Doctors (SCD), Society of Dental Surgeons J&K (SDSJK), Chenab Valley Doctors Association, National Health Mission (NHM), Technical Employees Association, All Ladakh Doctors Association & Private Practitioners Association.
DAK stresses upon the government to take immediate action against the SDM so that faith and self-respect of doctors is restored otherwise we will be forced to shut down the hospitals completely from Monday onwards and all the onus will lie on the government exclusively. (KNS)
