JKPM for creating congenial atmosphere for restoration of dialogue, peace


Anantnag, May 15 (KNS): Urging the need for resolution of vexed Kashmir problem through peaceful dialogue with all genuine stakeholders including Youth and Hurriyat leaders, JKPM leader Syed Iqbal Tahir has sought to minimise heavy Army concentration from the civilian areas of the state to make the atmosphere congenital for talks. He has also called for revocation of draconian laws including PSA and AFSPA from the state in a phased manner.

Speaking at a meeting of the party workers in Anantnag on Wednesday, Iqbal Tahir said that people especially youth of the state are much alienated as a result of repeated betrayals during last 70 years adding that adequate CBMs are required to restore their lost confidence and trust.

“People of the Kashmir have been caged due to heavy deployment of about 7 lakh armed forces with one soldier for every 12 Kashmiri civilians,” Iqbal Tahir remarked while urging for removing prevailing curbs on the people and allowing freedom of expression. He said human rights violations occurring almost on daily basis have reached to such an alarming proportion that everyone in Kashmir feels totally unsafe and insecure. He criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party for adopting a policy of military might in J&K adding that Center should understand the reality that Kashmir is a political issue which can be solved only through politic leans and not by muscular force.

“Kashmir issue can be solved only when all its stakeholders including India, Pakistan and representatives of J&K agree to sit on a negotiating table,” Syed Iqbal observed adding that his party JKPM would pool all its resources to facilitate a congenial atmosphere for the purpose.

Elaborating on the party’s political agenda, Iqbal said that JKPM shall work towards revocation of PSA, AFSPA and create an environment of reconciliation .He demanded that all the political prisoners who have been serving protracted terms must be released unconditionally.
