Srinagar, 15 Sep (KNS) : The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Chief Spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq Tuesday said that the party remains firmly committed to its Constitution and manifesto and by the grace of Allah, will continue to follow the path laid down by the party’s great leader, Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah.

In a statement issued, He said that the National Conference is not merely a political party, but represents a long and historic struggle for people’s rights, democracy and social justice.

Speaking to media persons, Tanvir Sadiq said that the Omar Abdullah-led government is utilising all available resources to address public grievances on a priority basis, improve basic amenities, accelerate development and ensure public welfare. He said that no amount of false propaganda by opponents can obscure the transformation taking place on the ground, as ongoing developmental and welfare initiatives speak for themselves.

Tanvir Sadiq said that one of the major achievements of the restoration of the democratic system is that people today have regained the right to question the government, voice their concerns openly and hold peaceful protests in support of their legitimate demands.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHe added that the media and other platforms of public expression have also regained the freedom to play their role and highlight issues concerning the people.

He said that during the undemocratic environment of the previous years, people were denied even the basic space to question those in power, speak openly against the authorities or protest in support of their genuine concerns. “Today, under a democratic system, every citizen has the constitutional right to express their views, question the government and raise their voice for their rights,” he said.

Tanvir Sadiq said that it was through the historic struggle and sacrifices of Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah that the people of Jammu and Kashmir secured important democratic, political and social rights. The National Conference, he said, continues to remain among the people with the same mission and spirit of public service and remains committed to resolving their issues.

He said that the Omar Abdullah-led government is working with determination to realise the dreams of Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah for the prosperity, well-being, self-confidence and dignity of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.(KNS)
