Srinagar, Nov 19 (KNS): Chairman of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Muhammad Yasin Malik Sunday said that ‘Shaheed-I-Hurriyat’ Sheikh Abdul Hameed, Mushtaq Ahmad Lone, Advocate Jamil Chowdhry and others who laid down their lives for freedom of Jammu Kashmir, are ‘our heroes whose struggle and sacrifices wrote a new chapter of resilience and resistance’.
“Whosoever thinks of defeating a movement nourished by the sacred blood of martyrs like these is living in fool’s paradise,” Malik as per the statement issued to KNS, said while speaking on the occasion of the martyrdom day of Shuhada-i- Aalikadal today.
The spokesman said that a condolence cum prayer meeting was today held at Mazar I Shuhada Eidgah Srinagar in memory of Shaheed I Hurriyat sheikh Abdul Hamid and other martyrs including Mushtaq Ahmad lone, Advocate Jamil Chowdhry, Fayaz Ahmad Sheikh, Mushtaq Ahmad Kuttay, Mustaq Ahmad khan and Ghulam Mohammad who embraced martyrdom at Aali Kadal Srinagar on 19th Nov 1992.
The meeting was attended by various JKLF leaders and activists including Advocate Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Showkat Ahmad, Master Sheikh Muhammad Afzal Bakshi, Ghulam Rasool Dar Eadi, Noor Mohammad Kalwal, Mohammad Yasin Bhat, Mir Siraj ud din, Zahoor Ahmad Butt, Sheikh Abdul Rashid, Mohammad Sideeq Shah, Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, Bashir Ahmad Kashmiri, professor Javed, Ashraf Bin Salam, Bashir Ahmad Rather (Boya) and others.
While remembering Shuhada-I-Aalikadal and Gulam Nabi Butt younger brother of father of Kashmiri nation Muhammad Maqbool Butt who departed this world on 18th November in 1994, Malik said that “these great souls nourished the struggle for freedom with their blood and sacrificed their today for our better tomorrow.”
He said that history bears a witness to the fact that till date no freedom struggle has been defeated by oppression and tyranny and those who are daydreaming of defeating this sacred movement, nourished by the sacred blood of martyrs are actually living in a fool’s paradise.
Malik said that that Sheikh Abdul Hamid and his companions embraced martyrdom and spilled their sacred blood into the waters of Jhelum, turned it red and thus wrote a new chapter of sacrifices and struggle.
He said that today when “we are remembering these noble souls, we pledge to take forward their mission to its cherished goal.”
While remembering his childhood friend Sheikh Abdul Hamid, Malik said that “he was a great friend and cohort who always stood in front and endured every difficulty and hardship that came his way with a smile on his face. Recalling the sacrifices and struggle of Ghulam Nabi Butt (Marhoom), who was the younger brother of Shaheed father of nation Muhammad Maqbool Butt and who left for heavenly abode in 1994.”
Malik said that he belonged to a family that knows only struggle and sacrifices and till his last breath stood for the freedom of this nation.
