In a statement issued to KNS, JKLF spokesman termed these arrests and detentions as ‘arbitrary, undemocratic and unethical’, saying said that Malik is in police custody from 22nd February 2019, while as JKLF vice chairman Showkat Ahmad Bakhshi is also languishing in police custody from last many days.
JKLF district president Bashir Ahmad Rather (Boya) is lodged at Srinagar central jail while as District President Gulzar Pahalwan is at Budgam police station, it said, adding that another JKLF activist Nadeem Ahmad of Pampore has been shifted to Pulwama jail.

While condemning these arrests and police tactics to prolong the incarceration of these inmates, JKLF said “spree of arrests amounts to suppression of political dissent by force which is highly undemocratic, unethical and arbitrary.”
Meanwhile, JKLF paid tributes to Farooq Ahmad Dar of Sopore and Tahir Rasool Sofi of Baramulla.
JKLF Zonal President Noor Muhammad Kalwal said that Farooq Ahmad was a true warrior, an ideological parson and a wise young man who laid down his life for the freedom of his nation.
Noor said that a freedom movement nourished by the sacred blood of martyrs like Farooq Ahmad Dhobi cannot be defeated by any power. He said that Farooq was a great freedom fighter whose replacement is yet to come.
He prayed for the heavenly abode of Farooq Ahmad Dobhi and other martyrs of Jammu Kashmir.
While paying tributes to scholar Tahir Rasool Sofi who was killed in 2013, JKLF leader said that “from 2008 till now, hundreds of our young ones have been killed by forces in same manner and every time occupational civil administration announces probes and after some time declares killers as innocent and hence puts a cover on their crimes.”
While expressing solidarity with the bereaved family of Tahir Rasool Sofi, JKLF leader said that Kashmiris will keep striving for the sacred mission for which these persons laid down their lives and embraced martyrdom. (KNS)
