Calls for a judicial probe into firing on Mar 16

Srinagar, Mar 22 (KNS): Chairman of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Muhammad Yasin Malik said that the martyrdom of JKLF activist Naeem Ahmad Butt of Rawalakot Azad Kashmir marks the continuation of the struggle and sacrifices rendered by Kashmiris for freedom.
“Instead of using foul language against Freedom lovers, government of Azad Kashmir should call for an impartial judicial probe into firing on peaceful protest at Madarpor near ceasefire line (LOC) and take action against the culprits who killed Naeem Butt with impunity,” Malik said in a statement issued to KNS.
Malik was speaking to a condolence meeting held at JKLF headquarters in Srinagar for Naeem Butt.
Led by Malik, various JKLF leaders and activists participated in this prayers meeting.
JKLF leaders on the occasion paid tributes to martyr Naeem and expressed solidarity with his bereaved family. While praying for the heavenly abode of the martyr Naeem, Speakers also prayed for the Sabr-I-Jamil of his bereaved family.
Terming the martyrdom of Naeem Butt as ‘a continuation of the sacrifices rendered by Kashmiris for their freedom from last 71 years’, Malik said that “Butt’s martyrdom has reminded us of our gallant leaders and activists who strived for complete freedom of Jammu Kashmir and never shied away from rendering sacrifice of their lives for this righteous cause.”
He said that Kashmiris living on both forcibly separated sides of Kashmir alongside the ceasefire line (LOC) are bearing the brunt of a dispute left unresolved by the international community. “Our young and old, children and women are falling prey to the bombs and bullets and on 16th March 2018, JKLF had called for a peaceful march against the same, during which Naeem Butt along with many others received the bullets from Azad Kashmir police on their bodies and finally Naeem succumbed to his wounds yesterday and attained martyrdom,” he said.
Malik said that “the departure of this young passionate Kashmiri has pierced our hearts and souls and nation of Kashmir shares the pain and agony of his bereaved family.”
Calling for an impartial judicial probe into the ugly incident of unprovoked firing by Azad Kashmir police on peaceful protesters on Mar 16, Malik said that the government of Azad Jammu Kashmir and its leaders instead of using foul language against freedom fighters should immediately call for a impartial probe into this firing and bring the culprits who showered bullets on peaceful protesters which killed Naeem Butt and injured many others, to the book.
“Killers of Nadeem deserve exemplary punishment and we demand from the government of Azad Kashmir to take immediate steps in this regard,” demanded Malik.
Calling for a complete restraint by JKLF cadres, chairman said that JKLF is a responsible freedom loving organization which has a glorious history of struggle and sacrifices.
“Our struggle is based on justice and truth and we have to show magnanimity and restraint while mourning the loss of our brother Naeem,” the statement added.
He appealed the activists and leaders of JKLF to remain calm and mark their protest with restraint and nobility. (KNS)
