Srinagar, September 15 (KNS): Prominent political leader and Apni Party Vice President Mohammad Syed Akhoon on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on the J&K government, accusing it of failing on every front and completely disappointing the people who voted it to power.

He said the ruling National Conference (NC) had made a series of big promises during the election campaign but had failed to deliver on them after coming to power. He said the government’s performance had exposed a clear gap between the claims made before the elections and the situation on the ground.

In his statement issued here, Akhoon Said: “Ruling National Conference (NC) literally befooled people with its tall claims, false promises and emotional slogans during the 2024 Assembly election campaign,.”

He further said, “People trusted the NC’s promises and gave it a massive mandate, but two years down the line, those who voted the party to power feel deeply betrayed, as the government has failed on every front.”

Akhoon said that during the election campaign, NC leaders repeatedly claimed that, if voted to power, their government would provide one lakh government jobs to unemployed youth soon after taking charge.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThey also promised to regularise daily wagers to ensure them a secure livelihood. Furthermore, NC promised 200 units of free electricity and free gas cylinders to domestic consumers, besides additional ration for the people.

“None of these major promises has been fulfilled even after two years in office. The promises that were loudly repeated during the election campaign seem to have disappeared once the elections were over and the votes were secured,” Akhoon said.

He said the growing disappointment among the people was a result of the government’s failure to honour its commitments and address their genuine concerns. He said the public has begun to realise that the ruling party secured their votes through false promises, exaggerated claims and emotional rhetoric, only to abandon those commitments after coming to power.

Akhoon said the government must be held accountable for its poor performance and it should explain to the people why it had failed to fulfil the commitments made before the elections.(KNS)
