Terms present situation in Kashmir precarious, questions Madhav’s statement

Srinagar, Nov 20 (KNS): Congress has demanded that sitting MP from Srinagar and NC Patriarch Dr Farooq Abdullah must be allowed to attend the ongoing parliament session so that peoples’ issues could be raised from the highest podium of democracy.
Talking to KNS, Congress spokesman from New Delhi, M. Afzal termed the present situation in Kashmir precarious and worrisome, questioning the government’s logic of claiming normalcy on one side and prolonging the detention of political leaders on the other side.
He said that if the government on one side claims that political process is being reinitiated in Kashmir, why Srinagar’s sitting MP and veteran political figure of the erstwhile state is being barred from attending the parliament session. Afzal demanded that release of NC patriarch at an earliest so that peoples’ issues are raised by him from democracy’s highest seat.
He also questioned BJP general secretary Ram Madhav’s recent statement about measures being taken to reinitiate political process in Kashmir. According to Afzal such a statement carries no logic as the entire political spectrum of Kashmir has been kept under detention and the leaders are being treated like ruthless criminals. (KNS)
