‘Muslims of Kashmir are not being allowed to perform their religious activities’

Srinagar, Sep 19 (KNS): Terming the banning of Muharram processions in Srinagar, as undemocratic and imposition of curfew like restrictions as barbaric acts of the so called administration, Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP) today said that even religious rights of the people of Kashmir are being violated to make them surrender.
Strongly condemning the banning of Muharram processions, the JKDFP Spokesperson said in a statement to KNS, that it is unfortunate that Muslims of Kashmir are not being allowed to perform their religious activities. Kashmiri people are not against any particular religion or faith but it is sheer discrimination on part of the administration that they provide security to the activities of a particular religion and out rightly ban the other.
The JKDFP Spokesperson appealed United Nations Human Rights Council, which is in Session at Geneva to look into the serious situation of Kashmir where people are being caged only for their affiliation with a particular faith. This is done by a country which claims to be the “world’s largest democracy”. Unfortunately world is tight lipped over the plight of Kashmiri people who are suffering from India and that has made it more arrogant.
The Spokesperson strongly condemned the caging of the people of Srinagar by imposing curfew like restrictions on their movement. It has become a norm in the lawless land of Kashmir to impose curbs on the people’s movement. Such acts are aimed at passing on a message that people cannot fight the large military might of India however the continuous resistance of people and their steadfastness despite every oppression and suppression of India has made it clear many a times that Kashmiri people will not rest unless they achieve their cherished goal of freedom for which they are continuously sacrificing their lives and remain in far off jails.
