Srinagar, 01 Oct (KNS) : Youth National Conference Provincial President Mushtaq Mir Thursday said Omar Abdullah-led government is working seriously towards addressing the concerns of the youth of Jammu and Kashmir, including creating employment opportunities, improving educational facilities, expediting the recruitment process, addressing reservation-related issues and resolving public grievances.
He made these comments while addressing a function organised at the party headquarters in honour of 43 newly elected Block Presidents from Anantnag, Budgam and Ganderbal districts.
The participants presented their views and suggestions during the meeting. Detailed discussions were also held on the activities of the Youth Wing, its upcoming programmes and a roadmap for further strengthening and activating the organisation.
Provincial Vice President of the Youth Wing Fazil Butt, Provincial Secretary Sheikh Owais and other office-bearers were present on the occasion. The meeting was organised by Provincial Joint Secretary Bilal Ahmad.
Mushtaq Mir said that from 2015 until the end of 2024, no effort was spared to push the youth of Jammu and Kashmir to the wall and deprive them of opportunities. He said avenues for employment and development were restricted, while opportunities were created for non-local candidates in government jobs and admissions to educational institutions.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He said the careers of a large number of young people were affected by various cases, arrests and the inclusion of their names in FIRs, the impact of which continues to be felt even today.
He said the National Conference, immediately after assuming office, made youth-friendly initiatives one of its priorities. "Steps have been taken to create self-employment opportunities, open recruitment avenues for local youth, expedite the recruitment process, and address issues related to the Private Universities Bill and reservation. However the UT system and limited powers have created several hurdles in implementing these measures," he said.
The meeting also welcomed the passage of the resolution moved by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in the Legislative Assembly seeking restoration of statehood. The participants said the resolution reflects the longstanding aspiration and democratic right of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. They said restoration of statehood is not a concession but a legitimate constitutional and democratic right of the people, and that the National Conference will continue its struggle for its restoration(KNS)
