4 Kerala Tourists dies in road accident at Zojila Pass

Ganderbal, Dec 05 (KNS): tourists from Kerala lost their lives and two others sustained injuries when the vehicle they were traveling in skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge. 


An official told the Kashmir News Service (KNS), that the tragic accident occurred while the tourists were en route to Sonamarg.

According to official, the vehicle veered off the road, leading to the fatal fall. Immediate rescue efforts were initiated, and the injured were rushed to the hospital. 

Regrettably, four tourists lost their lives in the incident, while the two injured individuals were promptly taken for medical treatment. One of the critically injured persons was later transferred to SKIMS Soura for advanced medical care.

Confirming the incident to KNS, SSP Rural Traffic R. P. Singh stated that District Police Ganderbal and Traffic police personnel have arrived at the scene. The ongoing rescue operation aims to determine if there are additional casualties or if the current count remains the same. It has been confirmed that all the tourists are from out of state.

SSP R. P. Singh said the slippery conditions of the roads during morning and evening hours. "To address this concern, regular check-ups are being conducted on vehicles traversing the road. Strict actions will be taken against vehicles lacking the necessary fitness, ensuring the safety of all commuters," he said.(KNS)
