Jammu, Sep 10 (KNS): The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has re-arrested a drug trafficking accused who had escaped from its custody in Jammu, following a three-day multi-state manhunt involving police forces of Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab.
The accused, identified as Aqib Bashir, fled from NCB custody in Jammu and travelled towards Jalandhar via the Pathankot route, an official said. During his run, he allegedly took shelter in a forested area near Narwal Fruit Mandi and changed his appearance by shaving his beard and changing his clothes in an attempt to evade detection.
According to officials, a joint operation was launched by NCB Jammu, NCB Amritsar, NCB Chandigarh and Punjab Police to track the fugitive.

"The accused was allegedly preparing to move towards Delhi or another state when he was apprehended," the official said.
Investigators are now probing the circumstances of his escape and identifying those who allegedly provided him shelter and facilitated his movement.
Further investigation is underway, officials added. (KNS)
