Jammu, Nov 26 (KNS): Members of the Zonal Railway Users Consultative Committee (ZRUCC) on Wednesday undertook a study tour of the newly constructed Chenab and Anji Khad Rail Bridges in the Jammu Division of Northern Railway.
The visit aimed to assess technological innovations in railway infrastructure and gain firsthand understanding of the engineering complexities involved in building these landmark bridges. The delegation was accompanied by senior Northern Railway officials, including the Additional General Manager, Deputy General Manager (General), Divisional Railway Manager Vivek Kumar, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal, and other senior divisional officers.
Officials briefed the members on the significance and features of the two bridges, both forming vital components of the Udhampur–Srinagar–Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) Project. The Anji Khad Rail Bridge, India’s first cable-stayed rail bridge, has been built on challenging mountainous terrain. Rising to a height of around 331 metres, it is a major engineering feat designed to significantly enhance rail connectivity in the region.
Officials said the study tour allowed ZRUCC members to observe operational and technical aspects of the ambitious projects closely. Insights gained will help in planning future railway initiatives more efficiently and in line with user needs.
The visit marks an important step toward strengthening railway infrastructure and improving service delivery across the Northern Railway network.(KNS)
