SKIMS Medical College Bemina Observes Constitution Day 2025 with Debate & Poster Presentations

Srinagar, Nov 26 (KNS) : SKIMS Medical College Bemina today observed Constitution Day 2025 with an impactful and thought-provoking programme held at the college auditorium, reaffirming its commitment to constitutional values, ethics, and civic responsibility in medical education.

The event began with the solemn reading of the Preamble followed by the administration of the constitutional pledge. The programme was presided over by Prof. Fazlul Qadir Parray, Principal SKIMS Medical College Bemina, who delivered the welcome address and stressed the timeless relevance of the ideals of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity, especially for medical professionals entrusted with the care and well-being of society.

Dr. Shafa A. Deva, Medical Superintendent, spoke about the need for institutional harmony to ensure a healthier and more inclusive future. Prof. (Dr) Abdul Maajid, Sub-Dean and Head of Psychiatry, elaborated on the constitutional guarantee of health under Article 21, highlighting access to healthcare as a fundamental component of human dignity. He urged students to reflect on their constitutional responsibilities as future physicians.

Following the inaugural session, a student debate was held on the motion:

Moderated by Mir Musharraf, the debate featured two teams:

Team A: Farhan, Krishna, Sheetal

Team B: Atta Zehra, Afreen, Aalima


Team A emerged as the winner, while Ms. Atta Zehra was declared Best Speaker for her outstanding articulation and arguments.

A poster presentation held alongside the main event showcased creative and insightful interpretations of constitutional themes. Ms. Aneeka Mukhtar bagged the first position, and Mr. Mohammad Salik Khan secured second place.

The programme highlighted the shared responsibility of healthcare professionals to contribute to a stronger, healthier nation—one shaped not only by medical expertise but also by constitutional awareness and active citizenship. Speakers reiterated that protecting India’s democratic, secular, and republican fabric requires renewed dedication to justice, liberty, equality, fraternity, and equitable healthcare access.

The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, where Mir Musharraf extended heartfelt thanks to all Heads of Departments, faculty members, staff, and students for their spirited participation, making the Constitution Day celebration a resounding success.(KNS)
