Zero Miles expands to Shopian with pledge to prioritise local youth on payroll

Srinagar, May 6 (KNS) : A local food chain has opened its ninth outlet in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district with a stated objective of generating employment for local youth amid high unemployment rates in the region.

Zero Miles – Grill & Cafe launched its new franchise opposite Jamia Masjid in the main market on Wednesday, with founder and CEO Jibran Khan emphasising that the chain's success is not measured by revenue alone.

"Our metric of success is not just revenue. Every outlet must earn its place – not just in business, but in how it serves the community," Khan said at the inauguration.

Co-founder Javid Ahmad Mahroo said the company is focused on "generating employees, not just filling positions.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel"

"Each new outlet is a step forward in our journey of growth, but growth without local hiring means nothing here," Mahroo added.

Local franchise partners Syed Saqib Yousuf and Gazenfar Bashir were also present at the event.

The company said the Shopian franchise will generate direct and indirect employment for local youth, a metric it will track alongside sales figures. Preference is being given to candidates from the district, a model Zero Miles has replicated across its nine outlets in the valley.

The chain, known for its grill platters and quick-service model, positions itself as a homegrown alternative to larger national chains. (KNS)
