Srinagar, Jan 6 (KNS): Senior Pro-freedom leader and Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement Chairman Zaffer Akbar Bhat today paid tributes to Sopore martyrs has termed the massacre and burning down of Sopore town on 6th January 1993 by Indian armed forces as a worst day in the history of Kashmir and example of state-sponsored terrorism.
Remembering the massacre, Zaffer Akbar Bhat said that forces looted property of thousands of people and massacred more than 70 innocents. He said that hundreds of residential and commercial structures were set on fire.
Zaffer said that the sacrifices of lives and property of the people were the biggest assets of the ongoing resistance movement and the killing of around 70 people in the massacre on that day and setting large scale arson of the Sopore market damaging the businesses and properties of the people was one of the black spots of the Indian illegal rule in Kashmir.
He slammed Indian establishment for not punishing its security men involved in the massacre perpetrated by forces in year 1993.
On his directions, a delegation headed by Farooq Ahmed accompanied by Javed Ahmed, Mushtaq Ahmad, Bashir Ahmed, Ghulam Hassan and others visited martyr’s graveyard at Sopore and paid glorious tributes to all martyrs of Kashmir.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
They reaffirmed to take the ongoing freedom struggle to its logical conclusion and expressed sympathy with the victim families.
Zaffer Akbar Bhat under mass contact program visited Lasjen, Soiteng, Suresyar and other areas of Srinagar. He during the visit apprised people about the current political situation. Zaffer Akbar Bhat on the occasion appealed Muslim communities to maintain brotherhood and peace. He said that any anti-peace and brotherhood can benefit anti-freedom movement elements.
Zaffer asked people to negate the designs of those elements who are trying to sabotage the ongoing freedom struggle of Kashmiris by fueling community clashes in Kashmir. He said that Iran and Saudi Arabia should play the role of uniting Muslim world which is need of the hour.
Zaffer Akbar Bhat also condoled the said demise of mother of Shaheed Fayaz Ahmed Lasjen, and Shaheed Skinder Habibullah Suresyar. He expressed solidarity with the family and prayed for the deceased soul. (KNS)
