Yuva Diwas celebrated at Cluster University Jammu

Jammu Janury 12 (KNS): Department of English, School of Humanities and Liberal Arts, Cluster University of Jammu in collaboration with Department of Students Welfare organized string of literary and cultural activities to celebrate Rashtriya Yuva Divas to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. Swami Vivekananda & ideas have been inspirational for our country & youth, and his role in guiding our nation and society towards a more progressive future. His birthday is celebrated as Rashtriya Yuva Divas because he was a firm believer in the potential and power of young people. The day began with the Slogan Writing Activity wherein the young minds of the department of English enthusiastically displayed slogans on the teachings and preaching’s of Swami Vivekananda. The activity was followed by Extempore where students delved on the life, teachings and famous sayings of Swami Vivekananda.

The program concluded with a zealous participation of students to mark the Lohri festival with a Bonfire. Students and Faculty gathered in large number offered groundnuts, rewri, gachak to the God of Fire and enjoyed the festival. The students sang songs and presented folk dance immersed in rich cultural folklore of Jammu and Kashmir UT. The programme was attended by Dr. Geetanjali A. Rana Dean, School of Humanities and Liberal Arts, Dr. Twinkle Suri, Dean Students Welfare, Dr. Banpreet Kour, Associate Dean. Dr. Jeet Singh and faculty department of English, Dr. Indu Sharma, Dr. Himanshi Vashishat and Ms Kamaljot Kour, coordinated the whole event.(KNS)
