Admin orders criminal proceedings against the Co.; FIR lodged

Anantag, Dec 24 (KNS): A youth was electrocuted to death whileas four others injured in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Thursday after they were laying electric wires and poles, officials said.

They said the man, working with a private company, was at work when he received electric shocks at Nambal area of the district this afternoon. The man was evacuated to PHC Mattan for quick medical attention however doctors at the facilty declared him brought dead on arrival.

The deceased was identified as Anees Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Rehman Bhat resident of Vail Nagbal area of Ashmuqam. "He was laying electric pole and wire with a private company for project work with four other labourers", an official told KNS.

BMO Mattan Dr Saleem told KNS the man namely Aneess Ahmad Bhat was brought dead to medical facility. “His postmortem is being carried at GMC Anantnag,” he added.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag Kuldip Krishan Sidha while talking exclusively to KNS confirmed the incident, saying the enquiry into the incident has been ordered. He said the company to which the deceased was working, had started the laying of wires an electric poles in the area without submitting information to concern PDD department.

"Enquiry has been ordered and FIR too has been lodged against the said company under criminal proceedings", Sidha told KNS.

He added the Assistant Commissioner Revenue will head the enquiry into the incident and has been directed to submit a detailed report within seven days.

He further added that rupees 25,000 has been paid to NoK's of deceased as an initial relief while 5,000 each given to injured persons from Red Cross Fund.

Meanwhile Civil Society Anantnag demanded impartial probe into the incident and urged for thorough investigations against the works executed by project wing in Anantnag and Bijebhera so far from last few years .

Notably Principle Secretary PDD Rohit Kansal recently had said during a meeting in Anantnag that if complaints are received the Government will no shy away from carrying out enquiries against the sub-letting of works by Project Wing Anantnag. (KNS)
