Jammu and Kashmir’s senior pro-freedom leader and Chairman Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah Friday said that Kashmiri youth are picking up guns against the “forcible occupation of India” and suggested the New Delhi to “resolve the long pending and simmering issue of Kashmir at earliest - for its own good.”
“The Government of India (GoI) should read writing on the wall that it can never crush the pro-freedom sentiments of our new generation. It is high time for New Delhi to seriously ponder over the pro-freedom zeal and passion of our youth and resolve the lingering dispute of Kashmir once for all. By prolonging the issue, New Delhi compels our youth to pick up guns,” Shah, who was again put under house arrest on Thursday evening, in a statement to KNS.
“Resolution of Kashmir issue is in better interest of the whole South Asia and its lingering poses a serious threat to the establishment of peace and stability in the entire region. It is an acknowledged fact that Kashmir dispute is the biggest hindrance for India to overcome its poverty and developmental issues as major portion of the country’s budget is spent on defense purposes, thereby promoting only ‘war culture’. India must read writing on the wall that it cannot, through oppression and suppression, arrests, tortures and through military might, change the reality of Kashmir issue or alter its internationally accepted disputed status,” he said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Reiterating his demand for tripartite talks between, Pakistan, Kashmir and India or implementing the UN resolutions for peaceful resolution of Kashmir dispute, Shah said that India, Pakistan and the people of Kashmir can also “resolve the issue mutually.”
He also called for unity among resistance leadership “to defeat the anti-movement elements, who’re hell bent upon creating fissures in our ranks.”
Expressing concern over the highhandedness of communal and fascist forces against the Muslims of Punjab region, Pir Panchal and Jammu including Rajouri, Bhaderwah, Shah said these elements are on a “much bigger and dangerous plan” and assured full support to the Muslims of these areas. “We’ll never leave our Muslim brethren at the mercy of these forces.”
The DFP Chairman also criticized the administration over the continued nocturnal raids and arrests in south Kashmir areas of Kulgam and Anantnag and various parts of Srinagar City. “They (admin) are provoking common man to launch a public uprising against them. It is better for them to stop such anti-people activities at earliest.”
Meanwhile, the DFP spokesperson has extended full support to the “Kashmir Bandh” call given by Valley based trade and business bodies, on Saturday.
