Srinagar, Jul 21 (KNS): A youth was Friday killed after forces opened fire during the clashes that erupted between youth and forces in Beerwah area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
Local sources informed KNS that the clashes erupted in the area as the mandatory Friday congregational prayers ended in the Masjids.
“The protesters pelted stones on Army patrol which resorted to firing to disperse protesters” sources said, adding that one among the protesting youth identified as Tanveer Ahmad Wani, a resident of Arwah village in Beerwah was killed after he received bullet in his head.
Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police (SP) Budgam, Tajinder Singh admitting the killing of a youth and said that “some miscreants while pelting stones on Army patrol threw fire cracker towards them.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThe forces opened fire in which a youth received bullet injuries and later succumbed to his injuries.”
Meanwhile, the district administration Srinagar has imposed restrictions undue section 144 in the areas falling under the jurisdiction of eight police stations.
The restrictions were imposed as precautionary measure.
Pertinently, Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) has called for complete shutdown and UN march today against the civilian killings and curbs on leadership in Kashmir.
All the shops and other business establishments remained closed throughout the day while the traffic was thin on the roads. (KNS)
