Jammu, Mar 05 (KNS): On the second and concluding day of the 2-day Jammu and Kashmir Young Writers’ Festival organized by the J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages, four research papers were presented in the two sessions today. The papers were thoroughly discussed during question-answer sessions.
The first paper was presented by Kamaldeep Singh on Punjabi language and future of its literature and the second by Mukhtar Ahmad on Shina and Dardi language and its future. In the post-lunch session, Mukesh Kumari and Sadeeq Ahmad Sadeeq presented their papers on Hindi and Pahari languages and their future respectively.
The audience, present in large numbers, took keen interest in the proceedings of the festival and asked questions and gave observations on the papers. Prominent writers and poets sat through the proceedings and made the event lively through their interventions and opinions.
On the sidelines of the festival renditions of traditional Kashmiri music were also held throughout the day. Academy also organized a book exhibition as part of the grand event.
In the afternoon, a mesmerizing musical evening was hosted as the concluding part of the conference. Singers who lent their voices to the ghazal evening included Sham Sajan and Rashid Jehangir.

“This is beginning of a new journey. We intend to hold such events in future also,” disclosed Secretary JKAACL, Dr. Aziz Hajini.
Exuding optimism Hajini said that the Academy intends to start home-stay tours of young writers on inter region basis with a view to promote idea exchange among younger generation of writers.
“This concept will be pursued by us where under visits of writers to the respective homes of their contemporaries will be facilitated with a view to afford them opportunities of idea exchange through first-hand experience,” Hajini said.
The Secretary JKAACL also stressed the need for formulating a grand narrative for contemporary literature.
“I impress upon our younger generation of writers to formulate a grand narrative for contemporary literature which would serve as a template for our progeny,” he said.
Dr. Hajini was speaking at the concluding function of the 2-Day Young Writers’ Festival which culminated here on Sunday.
Noted writers Prof. Nirmal Vinod, Suhail Sidique and Prof. Bashar Bashir participated in the concluding session and presented their views about the 2-Day event.
Pertinently, the holding of this maiden young writers’ festival by the Academy has been widely appreciated by the writers’ community. (KNS)
