‘Changes in lifestyle, limiting exposure and some habits can lower the risk of the disease’

Srinagar February 05: (KNS) On the occasion of World Cancer Day, the Department of Biotechnology, Islamia College of Science of Commerce (ICSC), Srinagar organized an online Special Lecture on “Cancers: Impact, Prevention and Control,” delivered by Dr Aga Syed Sameer, Assistant Professor (Biochemistry) at King Saud Bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences, Kingdom Of Saudi Arabia. Dr Sameer highlighted the various risk factors, changes and screening of the disease. Explaining that the changes in lifestyle, limiting exposure and some habits can lower the risk of the disease, he emphasized on the need for a healthy way of living to prevent cancers.

 Earlier in his welcome address, Dr. Sheikh Ajaz Bashir, Principal ICSC, appreciated the Department of Biotechnology for holding the talk on an important topic. “As an institution of repute, we are playing our part to raise awareness in the community regarding issues which are urgent and important,” he said.

Faculty and students from various colleges and universities attended the talk.
The lecture session was coordinated and conducted by Dr. Shah Ubaid-ullah, Assistant Professor (Biotechnology) of the college. An interaction followed the talk in which participants asked questions of interest and shared their views.

 Concluding remarks were given by Mr. Sheikh M Saleem, Head Dept of Biotechnology. The lecture was in-tune with the theme of the World Cancer Day-2022, “Close the Care Gap” with the aim to increase awareness and knowledge about this dreaded disease.(KNS
