Work on establishment of AIIMS at Awantipora not progressing

Srinagar, Dec 28 (KNS): Despite passing of several years, the work on AIIMS hospital in Awantipora area of south Kashmir has not progressed as till now even the demarcation of the land identified for the premier institution is not complete.
Sources told KNS due to the unrest in south Kashmir for the last more than three years, the work on the AIIMS couldn’t progress. “Even the erstwhile PDP-BJP government didn’t give proper attention to take the project further. In Samba area of Jammu, the work on the establishment of AIIMS is going on at full swing while in Kashmir, it is at infancy stage,” they said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
During the previous tenure of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, AIIMS for Kashmir was allotted. However, several organisations in Jammu region launched an agitation demanding establishment of the premier institute in Jammu also.
After demand from Jammu, then Union Health Minister JP Nadda had given consent to establishment of the AIIMS at Vijaynagar, Samba. Funds were allotted for the establishment of the AIIMS at both the places. (KNS)
