Anantnag, Dec 23 (KNS): A mentally unsound man killed three persons including his mother in Aishmuqam village of Anantnag district on Friday morning, officials said here.
An official told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that a mentally unsound man attacked several people including his family members today morning, resulting into the death of his mother and two other persons.
He said the man first attacked his family members and later attacked people outside on the road.
The deceased have been identified as Hafiza Begum, Ghulam Nabi Khadim and Mohammad Amin Shah—all residents of Aishmuqam.
The official said the injured were later rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, while a case in this regard has been registered and the accused has been arrested.
BMO Mattan, Dr Ashraf Padder told KNS that seven injured persons were brought to the hospital among them three succumbed to their injures.
He added the injured persons were later referred to Government Medical College Anantnag for further treatment.
Meanwhile,deputy commissioner Anantnag told KNS that the situation was being monitored and he himself talked to the local Auqaf committee.
While terming the incident as unfortunate, he said police and medical teams were also deputed to the spot. (KNS)
