Kupwara 26 March (KNS): Superintendent of Police Handwara, Sandeep Gupta (IPS), who recently assumed charge expressed determination to curb the drug menace and termed public-oriented policing one of his top priorities.

Speaking to Kashmir News Service-(KNS), he emphasised on the significance of people-centric policing.
The Handwara police district chief said that he values feedback from people to assess their expectations from the force rather than unilaterally imposing policing methods.

“The idea is to instill a sense of security and safety in people and take everyone along for making our area safe and secure for everyone. Vulnerable sections like women and children should feel safe all the time in our area and can reach out to police for any kind of help"

He also said that drug peddlers  who lure  the youth towards drugs won't be spared. They have to leave bad activities once for all so that our youth can channelise his postive energy towards sports, career building."

The top cop further said that involvement of youth in social activities and sports is one of the important factor to curb the drug menace which will be streamlined in the district.

"Anti millitancy activities will also be part of our strategy to keep district peaceful",he added.(KNS)
