Jammu, Sep 26 (KNS): Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Sunday said that his Party will restore Darbar Move practice if it comes to power in Jammu and Kashmir.

“It would be our first decision on forming the Govt to restore the practice of Darbar Move,” said Altaf Bukhari while speaking to media persons at Apni Party Office in Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.

He was speaking to the sideline of a party meeting of the District Jammu Committee which was organised by Jammu District – Urban - President, Pranav Shagotra.

All those who were present on the occasion include General Secretary, Vijay Bakaya, Provincial President, Jammu, Manjit Singh, Provincial President, Women Wing, Jammu, Namrta Sharma, Ex-MLA Faqir Nath, SC State Coordinator, Bodh Raj Bhagat, OBC State Coordinator, Madan Lal Chalotra, Provincial Secretary, Dr Rohit Gupta, District President Jammu Rural, Pushp Kumar Uppal, State Youth Wing General Secretary, Abhay Bakaya, Provincial President of OBC Wing, Sohan Singh Soni, Ex-Serviceman Coordinator, Kulwant Singh, and others.

Bukhari said that “Stopping of Darbar Move practice is one of the biggest issues being faced by Jammu. It was the unfortunate decision and I want to assure the people of Jammu that we stand with them and their demand for resumption of Darbar Move practice.”

He said that the Darbar Move practice has an emotional connection with the people of Jammu as well as Kashmir regions which has been continuing since centuries.

“I am not able to understand why the Darbar Move practice was stopped,” he said while criticizing the administration for their one-sided decisions which has affected Jammu.

He also expressed concern over the failure of Jammu’s leaders who lack coordination among themselves to raise their voice against injustice with the people of Jammu, businessmen and the youth.

However, the Apni Party will not compromise on the issues and will fight shoulder to shoulder with the traders of Jammu, he added.

He again assured that “If Apni Party comes to power, we will restore Darbar Move practice which is an emotional connection between the people of two regions. No one can end the centuries old practice and emotional bonding between Jammu and Kashmir regions.”

“It was our tradition, but unfortunately the administration does not know the importance of the darbar move,” he said.

He further said that “Jammu has always been a business hub, but we are seeing that it is being ended whether it is land rights in which the business community is excluded from buying agricultural land.”

He also criticized the role of a political party for remaining mute spectator to the suffering of the people of Jammu.

“Jammu has been a trading hub for generations. However, I want to assure the people of Jammu that we are with them and we will fight for their cause,” he said.

He said that “We do not give double speeches like other politicians. Jammu is equally important for us as is Kashmir.”

He said that the Apni Party would not want disruption of peace in J&K in any way since it is often taken as an excuse to defer elections.

The district committee meeting was attended by all the office bearers, leaders and party workers.

Meanwhile, he congratulated the J&K youth who have cracked the prestigious civil service exams of UPSC.

“We are proud of our young generation for their remarkable achievement. With their selection, they have shown that they can compete at any level. This is our youth power. They are not less intelligent than others,” he added. (KNS)
