Srinagar, Sep 29 (KNS): Reacting against the "integral part" statement of Indian deputy home minister Kiren Rijiju, the Democratic Freedom Party chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah Tuesday suggested him to "re-read the history before issuing any statement"."Kashmir was never part of India but annexed by latter in 1947 through military invasion," Shah who continues to be under house arrest in a statement issued to KNS, said.
He said it was India which took the Kashmir issue to United Nations and promised Kashmiris of referendum till situation improves."The minister's statement is nothing but a repeated attempt to mislead masses. He (Rijiju) should go through history to know about the speeches of Indian first prime minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru with regard to Kashmir. Such distortion of facts can't change the reality of Kashmir issue," Shah said.
Shah expressed strong resentment over the accepting of petition challenging Article 370 by Delhi High Court and termed the move as "RSS mindset".He said apart from taking forward the freedom movement, we have to devise strategies to counter every challenge the RSS and Saffron brigade is posing before us."The RSS-BJP are busy in hatching conspiracies against us sometimes by interfering in our religious affairs and sometimes by banning slaughtering of bovine animals.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelWe'll not let any of their ploys against eroding the special status of Jammu Kashmir succeed at any cost," he asserted.
The Freedom Party chairman severely criticised the state administration for maintaining silence over such "attacks" and said the government does this all to "be on chair". "All sections of society including pro-freedom leadership, intellectuals, civil society, students and general public have to rise to counter the RSS designs."
Shabir Ahmad Shah also welcomed the meeting between UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon and Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharrif and hailed the "peace and negotiation" remarks of Ban Ki Moon.He expressed hope that UN will discuss the long pending dispute of Kashmir during the ongoing session and play role in resolving the issue as it did with regard to Croatia, South Sudan and East Timur."The stand adopted by Pakistan with regard to Kashmir in UN is laudable and we hope the nation will continue to highlight the plight of oppressed Kashmiris before world community and succeed in pressurizing India to resolve the issue," Shah added.
