Shopian, Oct 06 (KNS): As part of a series of celebratory events planned during Wildlife Week (October 2 to 8),the department of wildlife protection in collaboration with the Wildlife Trust of India organised a day-long wildlife awareness event for schoolchildren in Hirpora( Shopian) district today.
The event, which was held at the Nature interpretation centre (NIC) in the Hirpora Wildlife Sanctuary, comprised an inter-school quiz and a debate competition on the importance of wildlife conservation. The underlying goal: inculcating and encouraging much-needed natural heritage awareness among members of the next generation, making them stakeholders in wildlife conservation.
Speaking on the occasion, Ifshan Dewaan, the Wildlife Warden of south Kashmir said: " It is high time that we start to create public ownership of our natural assets and take it as shared good for our posterity that is how we can preserve our precious natural wealth".Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Speaking on the occasion, Riyaz the project head WTI (J&K) said"Conservation and preservation of our natural resources including the wild flora and fauna is not only our bounden duty but also a serious religious obligation for all mankind and not complying is a violation against the compassion of creator.
