Wildlife deptt guard, broker arrested for demanding and accepting bribe in Ganderbal: ACB 

Srinagar, Feb 18 (KNS): Anti-corruption bureau on Friday trapped and arrested guard of wildlife department and a broker in Waskhura area of Ganderbal district for demanding and accepting bribe. 

In a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), a spokesperson said that ACB trapped and arrested wildlife department Waskhura guard, Tariq Ahmad Sofi and broker Mohammad Yaseen Bhat for accepting bribe of ?5000/- for releasing belongings of the complainant seized by the department

The statement reads that ACB received a complaint alleging therein that a guard in Wildlife department namely Tariq Ahmad Sofi posted at Waskhurawas demanding ? 5000/- as bribe for releasing belongings of the complainant seized by the department.

"Upon receiving the instant complaint prima facie offence U/S 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 was found made out. Consequently, case FIR No. 06/2022 was registered at P/S ACB Srinagar. During the course of investigation, a trap team was constituted. The trap team laid a successful trap and caught Tariq Ahmad Sofi, while demanding and accepting bribe of ?5000/- through a broker namely Mohammad Yaseen Bhat from the complainant."

It reads that the duo was arrested and taken into custody by ACB Team. "Bribe money was also recovered from their possession in presence of independent witnesses. Further investigation of the case is going on," it reads. (KNS)
