Srinagar, Jul 10 (KNS): While expressing his heartfelt condolences to the families of people who died in last two days of violence across the Valley, Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) president and MLA Khansahib Hakim Mohammad Yasin today asked incumbent PDP government why it was silent on the prevailing situation when the same PDP in opposition would raise hue-n-cry over such killings.
“Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) government is doing the reverse of what it used to preach when it was in opposition. Where have its (PDP’s) promises of protecting the life and dignity of Kashmir’s gone. There is urgent need to rein in the forces as further killings will only add fuel to the fire,” Hakim Yasin said in a statement to KNS.
Stating that violence was not any solution to problems, he said, “Use of force will further alienate Kashmiri youths. There is urgent need to address the aspirations of Kashmiri youths and both India and Pakistan have to engage Kashmiri leadership in a meaningful dialogue.”
He urged the administration and forces to exercise maximum restraint while dealing with the protesters.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“The blood of Kashmiris is not so cheap that every day unarmed protesters are killed on streets.”
Asking PDP led state government to immediately initiate a dialogue with separatists, the PDF chief said, “It was PDP who used to say ‘baat banege boli se na ke goli se’. There is a strong government in the Center of which PDP is a partner. When in opposition PDP leadership used to say Kashmir is a core issue and needs to be addressed according to the aspirations of Kashmiris.”
“Now is the time for PDP to address the core issue of Kashmir which can decrease the violence. If it (Kashmir) isn’t solved the uncertainty will increase and so will violence and killings. People are feeling insecure due to unnecessary killings and it is the duty of the government to instil confidence among the people,” he said.
He expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of people who died in last two days and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured. (KNS)
