While guarding borders, soldiers wish happy Diwali to nation

Srinagar, Oct 20 (KNS): Indian Army personnel stationed along the Line of Control (LoC) in Keran sector marked Diwali by lighting diyas, distributing sweets, and joining local residents in traditional rituals.

The celebrations highlighted the bond between the troops and the communities living near the border.

Despite harsh weather and freezing winds at high altitudes, soldiers continued their regular duties, guarding strategic points along the LoC. Many of them spend around nine months each year away from their families, yet observed the festival together as one unit.

A jawan posted at Keran told KNS, “On behalf of the Indian Army, I wish all citizens a happy Diwali. We stay here for about nine months a year. All the jawans are like family, and together we celebrate Diwali even while on duty.”

Another soldier said the border personnel remain alert throughout the festival to ensure the safety of citizens.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“We guard the borders so that people across the country can celebrate Diwali without any threat,” he said.

In villages along the LoC, soldiers engaged with locals, sharing sweets and joining in diyas lighting ceremonies.

Residents expressed their gratitude, calling the troops “real heroes” for their continuous service and presence in challenging conditions.

Officials said the celebrations reflect the dedication of security personnel who maintain vigilance throughout the year.

The Diwali events also provided an opportunity to strengthen ties with the local population, showing unity and resilience in some of the most remote and sensitive areas along the border.
