Shiv Sena accuses Center of betraying the people of Jammu and Kashmir

All opposition parties united against giving voting rights to non-locals

SRINAGAR August 22 (KNS):  Senior leaders of Shiv Sena Jammu and Kashmir led by its J&K chief Manish Sahni attended an all-party meeting called by former Chief Minister and MP Dr. Farooq Abdullah in Srinagar today.

Where Manish Sahni in his address accused the BJP central government of betraying the people of the state, he said that far from fulfilling the promises of development, employment, BJP is now the allowing the voting rights to non locals  which will not be tolerated at all. Manish Sahni said that after the abrogation of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, " there is a continuous conspiracy going on to erase the culture and identity of the Dogras, Kashmiris, Paharis and Gujjar-Bakerwals of this under a well thought out strategy.

He asserted that the share of non-local people in the state's trade, business and contracts is being increased day by day. "At the same time, efforts are being made to sideline the local people in both the government and private sectors,." Sahni said.

He lamented that with the non-local people getting the right to vote, it will be very difficult to drive out the illegally settled Bangladeshis, Rohingyas and people with criminal background and this would lead to an increase in anti-national and anti-social activities in this highly sensitive border territory.

The Shiv Sena leader accused the Govt of plundering the resources of J&K stating that Jammu which is famous as the city of temples and Kashmir, the land of Rishis, Munis and Pir Paigambers are being distorted by selling the roads here in the name of Smart City with public being made to pay taxes and their money is being wasted like water.

He asserted that right from liquor shops to Smart City Project, almost all the contracts are being allotted to outsiders due to which the local traders of the state are in a state of distress and despair.
The meeting was chaired by NC President Dr. Farooq Abdullah others who were participated include PDP President Mehbooba Mufti, Congress State President Vikar Rasool, Congress State Working President Raman Bhalla, CPI M leader Mohammad Yusuf Taragami, Ex CM J&K  Omar Abdullah, Awami National Conference (ANC), JDU and Akali Dal leaders including Shiv Sena.  Women's Wing President Meenakshi Chhibber, General Secretary Vikas Bakshi also attended the meeting.(KNS)
