Today, one day workshop on Swach Bharat mission with a special focus on open defecation free certification was organized by the Directorate of ULBK (Urban and local bodies Kashmir) during inaugural ceremony the Hon Minister of state Housing Urban development, Social welfare, health and medical education was the chief guest at the inaugural session while addressing the gathering she impressed upon the issues of open defecation is the main cause of diseases which results in the loss of human life and effecting the GDP of our country as well. Hon. MOS in a special reference of J&K state made a mention of natural water bodies and mentioned about the serious problem of untreated sewerage which is thrown into the rivers, lakes and other natural bodies. Hon. MOS also impressed upon the officers and engineers that we should conceive such schemes to have sewerage drainage and separate sewer line with proper sewerage treatment plants. Hon. M.O.S. also emphasized for creation of green corridors and integrated solid waste treatment by adopting modern methods like compositing, pyrolisis, RDF, etc. this way we can adopt waste to wealth and zero landfill concept.
The Hon.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelMOS stressed for the implementation of IEC (Information Education Communication) program for inclusive results at mass level by involving school children, Aanganwadi workers, community heads etc. for which public rallies, sanitation drives, behavioral developmental programs, social quiz programs, mass awareness, etc can help to achieve the requisite targets.
The program was also attended by Hardesh Kumar Singh Commissioner Secretary to Housing and Urban Dev. Department J&K. who emphasized upon all the participants for execution of the above programs on ground level.
The Director ULB assured the participants for all kind of support in implementing the sanitation programs religiously in a missionary mode. He also mentioned about the importance of ecology and sanitation in the valley of Kashmir because of its importance especially in Tourism sector and the natural Heritage.
The representatives and experts from other parts of country also shared their valuable ideas and expertise in the said field and offered their wisdom and experience to make this mission successful in the state for clean green Kashmir. (KNS)
