CM reviews Urs preparations at Hazratbal, stresses flood preparedness
Srinagar, Aug 28 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday reviewed arrangements for the upcoming Urs at Hazratbal, directing officials to ensure smooth transport, electricity, water supply, sanitation, mobile toilets, and medical camps for devotees.
According to KNS, he said the importance of proper parking and traffic management, especially for people coming from far-flung areas. Shuttle bus services, portable toilets, and uninterrupted power supply have been arranged to facilitate devotees.
During his visit, Omar also raised concerns about flood preparedness after recent heavy rains.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“After just two days of rain, we struggled. If it rains for four days, we may face a crisis like 2014. We must review what was done, where money was spent, and how much Jhelum’s capacity was increased,” he said.
The Chief Minister warned that shortcomings must be corrected. “We cannot live like this for another 10 years,” Omar said.
Thanking the Almighty for improved weather, Omar said water levels were receding but urged the government to reassess measures taken since 2014. “We can’t afford to face the same situation again,” he added.(KNS)
