Water scarcity hits several areas in Langate

Srinagar, Aug 28(KNS): The Residents of several villages including Audoora, Drungsoo, Warpora, Cheak i Audoora villages of Mawer Qalamabad area of Langate in North kashmir's Handwara are up in arms against Jal Shakti Department over shortage of potable water in their areas

The local inhabitants including women, as per KNS, up their Arms to press for the immediate redressal of the issue from the department as they were facing acute scarcity of water. 

Talking to Kashmir news service (KNS), the local said that they are being forced to consume dirty water from nearby nallah. “We have been requesting the higher ups to redress the concern however they have been pushing us from pillar to post without any resolution,” they said.

Alleging the Jal Shakti Department lineman Audoora Mawar of lackadaisical approach towards his duties, a local said that the employee is taking the local inhabitants on a ride for a very long now. “Each time we ask him about the issue, he rebukes us plays down the issue”, he said.

“Other localities are receiving constant supply of potable water however we at Audoora village are being singled out and deprived of the basic facility,” a senior citizen on the occasion said.

We urge the authorities, especially Executive Engineer Jal-Shakti Division Handwara to intervene into the issue for an early redressal, he urged.

Meanwhile Jal-Shakti officials stationed in these didn't responded repeated calls from this correspondent(KNS).
