Water scarcity forces Kani Dajan residents to drink contaminated water

Budgam July 11 (KNS): Shortage of drinking water in the remote village of Kani Dajan in Charar Sharief area of Central Kashmir's Budgam District for the past several weeks forced people to drink water from dirty canals.

A resident of the said village while talking to Kashmir News Service said that, the remote village of Kani Dajan has been without drinking water for the past three weeks, leaving people longing for a drop of drinking water.

 Ghulam Rasool Josh, a well-known Kashmir Valley poet and writer and a resident in Kani Dajan said that the scarcity of drinking water has taken a serious turn in the entire village due to which the residents of the village are in dire straits.

Jhon Masood, Executive Engineer, Jal Shakti Sub-Division, Charar Sharif talking to Kashmir News Service said that he will conduct a self-assessment of the unavailability of water.  

Locals have demanded the Lieutenant Governor's administration to take concrete steps to restore the drinking water supply in the village so that the people can be relieved.(KNS)
