Srinagar, Oct 01 (KNS): Stating that war cannot be solution to any problem, Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) president and MLA Khansahib Hakim Mohammad Yasin today urged leadership of India and Pakistan to show statesmanship approach to defuse the tension on borders.
In a statement issued to KNS, he said, “The prevailing situation on Indo-Pak borders is alarming as lakhs of innocent people are in danger of becoming homeless. During this harvesting season people had to leave their homes due to the fear of war. People of Kashmir have always been the worst victims of Indo-Pak hostilities.”
Stating that the dialogue was the only way forward to settle issues on both internal and external fronts, the PDF chief said, “Kashmir issue is the root cause of problem between India and Pakistan and without its solution the peace in south Asia will remain a distant dream. It is duty of the leadership of both the countries to take the Kashmiris into confidence and settle the issue according to their aspirations once for all.”
He said history is witness that no issue in the world has been settled through wars.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“War only brings destruction. India and Pakistan have fought three wars and after every war, they had to come on the negotiation table. Confrontation and hostility between New Delhi and Islamabad have not yielded favourable results for either country in the past. I appeal leadership of both the countries to shun the violence and come on negotiation table for the settlement of vexed Kashmir issue,” the MLA Khansahib added.
He appealed both the countries to uphold the ceasefire agreed upon in 2003 and work together to de-escalate the situation for peace, stability and cooperation in the region.
The PDF chief also lashed out at some national news channels whom he said were creating war hysteria. “Some news channels were creating war hysteria and also portraying wrong image of Kashmir. I urge the government to block all such channels who were indulging in such activities,” he demanded. (KNS)
