Srinagar, Apr 2 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board has taken over the management of the Ziyarat of Hazrat Sultan-ul-Arfeen in Bandipora district and ordered a comprehensive audit of its finances and properties, officials said on Thursday.

The shrine, located in Gundpora Rampora area of Nadihal in north Kashmir’s Bandipora, was brought under the Board’s control following directions from its chairperson Syed Darakhshan Andrabi after receiving complaints over its management.

Officials said a team has been constituted to take charge of the administrative and financial affairs of the shrine, which had remained under private control for several decades.

They said the decision was taken after repeated public grievances alleging mismanagement of the Ziyarat and its associated properties.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

The Board has also ordered a detailed audit of the shrine’s financial records to ensure transparency, accountability, and proper utilisation of resources.

In a statement, the Board said the move aims to safeguard the sanctity of the shrine and streamline its functioning in accordance with Waqf laws and regulations.

It reiterated its commitment to addressing public concerns and ensuring better governance of religious institutions.

Locals and devotees have welcomed the move, expressing hope that the takeover would lead to improved management and better facilities at the shrine.

Further action is likely after the audit process is completed, officials added.(KNS).
