Srinagar, Apr 30 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir government has directed Administrative Secretaries and Union Territory-level Heads of Departments to resume official duties at the Civil Secretariat in Srinagar starting Monday, May 5, 2025.
According to a government order accessed by Kashmir News Service (KNS), the decision follows a meeting of the Council of Ministers. The order states: "For effective and efficient conduct of official business at the Civil Secretariat, it is hereby ordered that Administrative Secretaries and UT-level Heads of Departments shall ensure their presence at the Civil Secretariat, Srinagar w.e.f. 5th May (Monday), 2025."
The arrangement of supporting staff from various Administrative Departments will be managed by the respective departments themselves. The Estates Department has been instructed to provide accommodation to officers and officials as per requisitions raised by concerned departments.
This move further signals the administration’s gradual shift away from the decades-old Darbar Move tradition. Despite multiple discussions and assurances over the years, the government has yet to formally restore the biannual practice, leaving employees in a state of uncertainty.(KNS)
